Barry Fisher’s insurance career spans more than four decades working in the field of personal financial well-being and responsibility. With broad expertise in life, disability and long-term care insurance he’s worked with individuals, business owners and allied professionals helping them provide protection for themselves and those they care about. Barry and his wife Susan Blais have been dedicated to the Central Coast since 1998 and created Blaze ‘n Bear Insurance Services, Inc. to assist local business owners and families with important personal financial choices.

Barry began his career in 1976 with Metropolitan Life. He founded Barry J. Fisher Insurance Marketing, Inc. in 1995 and is a nationally recognized leader and pioneer in the long-term care insurance industry. He has served as Past-President of the Los Angeles and California Associations of Health Underwriters and in 2002 the California State Legislature recognized him for leadership in legislative advocacy in the fields of health and long-term care. In 1999 he co-founded the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance and in 2003 Barry received the National Association of Health Underwriter’s Legislative Achievement Award. Additionally, Barry has also served on the California Department of Insurance Agents and Brokers Advisory and Curriculum Committees. He is a frequent public speaker and contributor to industry publications on matters pertaining to life, disability long-term care insurance planning and legislative matters.

Susan M. Blais, LTCP, led a successful career in the health insurance industry for 26 years. She began in business-to-business sales and retired as senior executive of a billion-dollar division of PacifiCare Health Systems, a Fortune 100 company.

In 2006, she joined her husband Barry Fisher in their insurance agency. They promoted top-rated long- term care insurance and related products through independent insurance agents and financial planners. Their current focus is on educating professionals and consumers on how to properly plan and manage life, disability, and long-term care risk as part of a comprehensive financial plan.

Barry and Susan live in West Templeton. Their son and daughter-in-law are both active-duty Army Officers. They have two grandsons who love to surf and ski.

They have been involved in various capacities in Boys & Girls Club, CA Mid-State Fair Heritage Foundation, COLAB, Friends of Hearst Castle, Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce, SLO Women’s Network, SPOKES, Studios On The Park and Woods Humane Society.
